On June 23 General Secretary of Georgia Greens Party George Gachechiladze arranged a press conference in connection with possible elimination of the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

As the Party leader declares in consequence of new government reshuffle the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources moves into subjection of the Ministry of Economics and acquires a status of a department which is absolutely inadmissible. According to George Gachechiladze this question is lobbied by one of Bendukidze’s personnel, Prime – Minister’s councilor Vato Lezava. For realizing of Kakha Bendukidze’s impracticable plan new ways have been found out. 
Environmental protection structure should be submitted to the Ministry of Economics in order to sell more easily Georgia’s natural wealth such as its forests, rivers, mineral wealth and many other goods. Otherwise Bendukidze’s “ideas” won’t be realized. 
This possible action goes beyond all limits of constitution and unveils actual aims of the initiators. It is also important that in this case the 37-th paragraph of Georgia’s constitution is violated. 
Georgia Greens Party appeals to Georgia’s authorities not to take such unreasonable steps. Otherwise the Party will lodge a complaint against the elimination of the Ministry in the Court of Appeal and will call on international and nongovernmental organizations to join the case.
