The joint statement of Georgia Greens Party and Ecological Law Centre

Georgia Greens Party and Ecological Law Centre have more than once called on Tbilisi City Hall and Ministry of Environmental Protection not to cut off the hill located on the section of Vake-Saburtalo road and in general not to construct passing through “Mziuri” high-speed main.

In a month’s time since the opening of the main the authorities of the City have to pay dearly for disregarding the warning of the Greens Party. On that section of Vake-Saburtalo road, where the cliff has been partially cut off, frequently occur accidents, in particular, when after rain boulders fall from the cliff damaging cars and causing injuries to the citizens’ health. At present this section of the road is closed precisely for this reason. After every rainy weather the passing cars are endangered to be hit by falling rocks. It should also be mentioned that on this section of the road drainage equipments have not been installed which creates additional problems.
